More photos and detail to be added soon.

Original BBC TV costume bought from a Bonhams London auction in the early 1990s, when the BBC were selling off a lot of their costume warehouse contents. It's probably from the BBC Shakespeare series but might be from another period series like By the Sword Divided as there were a few of those mixed in with them (many lots were sold by the rail full!). It's in a rich deep red velvet with dark grey sleeves. There is a lot of fabric in the skirt which is gathered at the waist. The fabric has been 'aged' with a light spray of a darker colour, and the red velvet looks lighter and brighter in the folds. There's a small patch of paler fading towards the back of the skirt (I don't know whether this is deliberate or accidental) but this is partly hidden by all the folds. I think it is designed to be worn with a bum roll or underskirt to bulk out the folds, but please note these are not included (the BBC auction did not include foundation/under garments as these are obviously reusable for other costumes!). It has been in storage so may need airing or dry cleaning before use (I can't tell). It's a very useful, wearable dress for LARP, re-enactment etc. I think. Size-wise it's around a 10 to 12 but can be adjusted because of the lacing up the back and opening (hidden press studs and hooks and eyes) at the top of the skirt.

Sleeve 22.5 inches top of shoulder to cuff, 50.5 inches top of bodice at back to lower hem of skirt,

Mum says it's made in what's called 'street velvet' which is strong and robust.

I will add more photos of the boning inside the bodice top, and some measurements soon. It's a low listing fee weekend so I'm listing it today.
