Selling for a family member who has downsized so no longer has space. Below are the details provided.

Original 1960s 1970s Anchor Hocking Fire King glass tea / coffee mugs / cups in gorgeous colour gradient going from dark to light. Rare to find such a set especially in the UK and Europe.

Set of 6 consisting of 2 green, 1 brown/yellow, 1 dark green, 1 red and 1 blue. The dark green is rare but the red and blue are the rarest ones. They stack nicely inside one another for storage.

They are all in overall fantastic condition especially for age. There are some minor signs of use and paint wear and manufacturer's marks which is part of the glass making and paint application process of this era. These are minor but some will be pointed out to give examples. None of this impacts on the function or overall look of the mugs in my opinion and if anything adds to the authenticity of them. They are after all over 50 years old. Any actual flaws such as nibbles etc will be pointed out.

The green mug in photo 2 which goes from a dark green to a lime green, is in overall excellent condition with only very minor signs of use/paint wear such as a few tiny dots around the rim. Having inspected with watchmaker's magnifying goggles they look and feel like paint wear rather than nibbles. There is however, one tiny nibble on the rim (see photo 8). The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 20, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

The red one goes from a lush cherry red to a sherbert orange. It is in fantastic condition with very tiny and minor signs of use/paint wear here and there. There are some miniscule manufacturer's marks. Please see photo 9 which shows the brown dot. As stated this is from the manufacturing process. The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 3, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

The dark green mug is in very good condition but does show the most signs of use/paint wear out of the lot. The surface of the inside of the mug also isn't as smooth/glossy as the others which is indicative of use. Please study photos 10-15. The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 36, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

The brown/yellow mug is darker than it appears in the photo ie the brown is more of a taupe/coffee brown with a warm lemon yellow. It is in superb condition and shows virtually no signs of use and very little paint wear. There is a tiny rough spot on the rim which has been inspected with the magnifying goggles and even still it's hard to say if this is a nibble, paint loss or manufacturer's flaw. See photo 16. The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 5, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

The blue one was hard to capture the colour. It's more like a cross between photo 18 and 23. It is in overall excellent condition with some speckles of paint wear throughout. See photos 17-23 bearing in mind that these are close ups. There is a rough area on the outer rim where there is paint loss. It's always been this way for the years we've owned it so I can't say how it happened. As it's rough rather than sharp it seems that it may have been knocked at some point as the inside of the mug maintains a high gloss and shows virtually no signs of use. Please study photo 23 to decide for yourself. Again this is a close up. The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 23, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

The other lighter green mug (photos 17-22 and photo 24) is in fantastic condition and looks as though it's never been used. The paint is also in superb condition. There are only a few of the tiniest nibbles to the rim (see photo 24) but most of them appear to be paint loss rather than a nibbles. The largest one is a nibble although still tiny. There are of course some manufacturer's marks, for example there is a line of glass at the bottom of the inside of the mug but this was only noted when feeling the inside and when it's held at a certain angle in enough light it's just about detectable. Otherwise, this is in exceptional condition. The base has ANCHOR HOCKING, an H straddling the stem of an anchor, Fire King, the number 33, OVEN PROOF and MADE IN U.S.A.

We never used any of them but admired them along with most of the items that are up for sale and have sat for years in a large display unit which is now gone due to downsizing so there no longer is the space to keep much of our pieces that we see as objets d'art.

Please keep in mind that all the items, including in other listings, have been inspected using watchmaker's magnifying goggles so many of the mentioned variations or wear are very hard to see if at all with the naked eye.

Very similar to Pyrex, Federal Glass etc.

Measurements (are approximate):

Height - 3.75 inches or 9.5 cm

Diameter Across the Top  -  just over 3 inches or 8 cm

Would suit any vintage, retro, mid century modern MCM, 1950s 1960s 1970s home décor

Please take a look at other listings for more Fire King / Anchor / Pyrex / Federal Glass etc
