FRED HARVEY era Santo Domingo Depression Era necklace consisting of a central thunderbird pendant with 5 triangular shaped pendant tabs on each side. The backs of the pendants are pieces of black plastic that were salvaged from old car battery casings. The tops are inlaid with chips of natural Cerrillos turquoise and pieces of red and off-white plastic that were repurposed from common disposable plastic utensils during this period of scarce resources. These colorful necklaces were originally sold roadside near Santa Fe, New Mexico for a couple of dollars, but now have become quite popular and collectible!

This necklace is strung on classic cotton string with 4.5 – 5.5. mm tubular gypsum heishe and it is knotted at the ends – so you would slip it over your head to wear it. This beautiful necklace is slightly daintier than the more common clunkier tab necklaces. Reasonable starting price for this collector’s item.

NICE DEPRESSION ERA THUNDERBIRD TAB NECKLACE!
