Exquisite Decorative Set of 6 BREAD & BUTTER PLATES 6 5/8" Diameter, CARNEGIE Pattern #9772 PEACH FLORAL w/ GOLD, Scalloped Rim, from Japan, Noritake symbol in Arabesque Style, Carnegie Pattern #9772 produced 1988-1990
DESCRIPTION: This beautiful set of 6 bread & butter plates was produced in the Carnegie pattern of peach flowers with teal green leaves having white tips on the leaves to give depth to the design. The rim of the plates has 6 bands starting with light grey followed by white, another wider grey then a gold cross hatched design followed by a dark turquoise green and finally the solid gold on the rim itself. The design looks so classic. The verges are trimmed with a gold circle.
CONDITION: While this set of 6 bread & butter plates is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks on the center part of the plates. There is no wear to the gold.
DIMENSIONS: The plates have a diameter of 6 5/8" and a height of 5/8".
HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp is identified by the website mark4ceramics as mark #90 used 1980's-2010's. The pattern name is in a banner as CARNEGIE #9772 which was produced in the 1988-1990 time period.
