Collectors naturally gravitate to first-year-of-issue coins. The issue of 1988 is the first-year-of-issue in the series commemorating 1000 years of Russian history.

This series includes 0.5 Oz platinum coin "The Tale of the Host of Igor", 0.5 Oz gold coin "Zlatnik of Vladimir", 0.25 Oz gold coin "St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod", 1 Oz palladium coin "Monument to Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich", 1 Oz silver coin "St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev" and 1 Oz silver coin "Silver of Vladimir".

In 1988 in Basel at the International numismatic exhibition this series was named the best coin program of the year and this set was awarded the first prize for craftsmanship.

Complete 6 coin sets are practically non-existent in the United States. US import ban on gold from Russia was lifted only in December of 1991.

Lovely red velvet presentation case displaying the USSR State Emblem. Each coin bears the numbered Certificate of Authenticity issued by Ministry of Finance of the USSR and is enclosed in a hard shell protection holder. Fantastic proof condition. Very low mintage of 7000.

P.S. No shipping outside of the USA
