A wonderful and large sterling creamer by Gorham and an unusual and rare pattern number 170 which is difficult to find any information on, however, there is an example of the entire 170 pattern coffee set in the RISD museum and I have included an image from an early Gorham catalogue (courtesy of the Gorham Archives at the John Hay Library, Brown University) and an image of the complete set.

It appears to be from the period when Gorham moved from coin silver to sterling as the date mark on it I have not found which suggests possibly to around1865-7.

Dimensions:

14cms (5.5inches) high 13.5 (5.3inches) wide (spout to handle)

293grms (10.3oz)

Although the creamer is in very good condition there are signs of use, which are as expected with an item of around 155 years old, these could be removed easily in the right hands
