Wave Crest
glass was produced as an opal glass blank and was then hand decorated.
Originally called "Opal Ware", this glass was at the height of
its popularity from 1890 to 1910. Much of the opal glass known as Wave
Crest was produced by the Mt. Washington Glass Co. and was purchased
by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by
their artists.
This lovely
dresser box features a soft pale yellow background with pink enameled
flowers and soft green foliage on center top and a molded swirl design on top
edge and around center of base. Box interior has a golden satin fabric lining
that appears to be original to the box.
The
top and base are fitted with an embossed brass band. The hinge
is tight and box opens and closes correctly.
The
condition of this lovely box is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs.
The brass band has very minor signs of tarnish and appears to have never
been polished.
