Leon Danchin [1887-1938, France] died in WW2. He was an eminent and hugely respected artist of his time, quite famous for his portraits of canines and working animals, which was his specialty and what he loved doing most. His skill and detail were what made him known as a superb artist amongst the public and his peers. When he died, he had created over 100 etchings and lithographs, nearly all of sporting animals. His work is appreciating in value with each passing year and is very sought after.
Super deluxe VERY RARE piece
23" high x 27.5" wide Double Matted with charcoal & beige toned mats, framed under deluxe non glare matte glass.
Frame is extremely heavy solid wood, original to piece, painted black
Viewable image itself is approx. 21.5" x 16". Edge of plate indented edge is clearly visible.
Secure hanger on back, ready to hang. Buyer will need to purchase a HEAVY picture wire to support this piece
The details are stunning- the tiny etched details are marvelous and this particular piece has exceptional tone and crisp lines...wonderful. Done with great skill.
A very collectible, charming piece.
The etching and paper are pristine. No damage or fading, no yellowing, no staining, no warping. Mats and glass are also pristine. Frame has wear to black paint and 2 small decorative wood notches which would have filled in the bottom left and right corners are long gone. This does not effect the frame stability, they were purely decorative, but there is a tiny gap on each side. See all pics and use zoom.
This is a fabulous piece for a collector, Leon Danchin's work is getting harder and harder to find, especially in such pristine condition.
