A super rare silver plated "Mark of Distinction" modernist sculpture, commissioned from Stuart Devlin by the Ford of Britain Motor company to celebrate the release of their Ford Zephyr & Zodiac Mk 1V cars in 1966.

These rare sculptures were just issued to Ford Dealerships, and were never on general sale.

I have photographed a picture from the internet of the original advert for the design. This advert states that the sculpture was made in sterling silver, but this example is unmarked and therefore presumed silver plated.

Stuart Devlin (1931-2018) was born in Australia but spent most of his career as a silver and goldsmith in England. He moved to England in 1965 where he set up a design studio. He designed a wide range of items, including this sculpture but is best known for his modernist designs in silver and gold. He received a Royal Warrant from The Queen in 1982. Some of his silver designs were also made in stainless steel by Viners of Sheffield.

Measures approx 20.9 cm (8 1/4") high.

Overall excellent vintage condition with general minor surface marks to the silver plating, and a little metal polish residue. All commensurate with age.
