This auction is for the VINTAGE APPX. 4.5x5.5-INCH SEPIA TONED BLACK AND WHITE SILVER GELATIN PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT OF AN EXCEEDINGLY HANDSOME UNIDENTIFIED BODYBUILDER, SHOT AND PRINTED IN THE 1990s BY NEW YORK CITY PHOTOGRAPHER ROBERT CUSIDO.

This rare print is in EXCELLENT condition, and it is SIGNED verso in pencil, as shown in my second scan. Use my scans as your guide.

ROBERT CUSIDO (b. 1955) immigrated with his parents from his native Cuba to the United States in 1965. He attended New York City’s School of Visual Arts, where he received the B.A. degree in 1985. For more than a decade, he owned one of New York City’s most successful custom black-and-white photography labs, Arista Photo Services, catering to a clientele of some of the most famous names in fashion, portrait and editorial photography. His own male nude images have been exhibited widely, and his work has been included in several photographic anthologies, including Exposed: A Celebration of the Male Nude from 90 of the World’s Greatest Photographers and Male Nude Now: New Visions for the 21st Century.

I've written about Robert's work for the Australian fine art photography magazine (not only) blue in issues #13 (“Stealing Beauty”) and #28 (“Hose That Man?”) and I included his beautiful work in my book Self-Exposure: The Male Nude Self-Portrait (Rizzoli/Universe, 2005). In addition to the male nudes for which he is well known, he also photographs landscapes and portraiture. His work has been included in exhibitions at Radiant Light Gallery (Portland, ME), Wessel+O’Connor Gallery (New York City), and others.

PLEASE NOTE that the features I wrote about Robert's artwork and the photo of us together are NOT included as part of this auction, but are included for your reference and authentication.
