Fisher Electronics was founded in 1945 by Avery Fisher, considered a pioneer in high fidelity audio equipment who manufactured high-performance audio products under the trade name "The Fisher". Released in 1977, with ample of power and attention to outstanding performance and versatility, the RS-1035 is a perfect choice for the true audiophile!

This classic receiver has two speaker zones and both Headphone & Record Out jacks on the front panel. The tuning dial is complemented with a Stereo indicator lamp and Signal Strength meter. In addition to the Speaker & Function selectors, Balance, Bass, Treble and click-stop Volume controls, there are buttons for High Filter, Stereo/Mono, FM Muting, Tape Monitor and a Loudness button that contours the sound perfectly for low level listening.

While we weren't able to find a manual online, we do know that the last two digits of Fisher model numbers usually denote the "watts per channel." This gives this a "Continuous Power" rating of 70 Watts, or 35 W/Ch into 8Ω through full spectrum with both channels driven. Remember, these are what audiophiles call "Vintage Watts," from an era where, unlike today, it was a sin to manipulate or elaborate the power ratings!

The rear panel offers two speaker zones, an Aux Input, a Tape Loop and a stereo Phono Input with a grounding post for your turntables! It also has multiple antenna terminals, attached AM Antenna, user-access to the power fuse and two AC outlets, switched & unswitched. It weighs in at about 22.5 lbs and measures 13-3/4" x 6" x 19" wide!

By "The Best, Ltd." policy all units over 25 lbs are double-boxed for secure shipment. This model is a bit under but considering it's vintage and value, we'll still give it the high-end treatment. The Free Shipping is for the Lower 48 only, HI & AK must select USPS Priority shipping at checkout! Insurance & Signature are covered on us! Paid items can be picked up in the Denver Metro area at no charge.

Condition:

This beautiful receiver is in "Very Good" condition with some signs of use and a nice, bright dial! Aside from a few small scuffs & dings to the veneer, there are just a few light scuffs to the front panel, most too faint to make out well in the pics. All original knobs are present & complete, as are the feet and attached AM Antenna & AC cord. The manual has gone missing and we weren't able to find a free download online. But no worries, if you have any questions just use our Free Support and we'll be glad to help. A bonus NEW FM Dipole Antenna is included. Please do inspect all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.

Service:

On inspection, this unit was working with just some scratchy controls and a dim dial, so as with all vintage receivers it went to our tech for servicing.

First, Fisher used certain transistors throughout this model that have known issues after 40 years. So, even though they were still working, our tech insists on replacing these transistors as they will assuredly fail some time in the near future. A total of 9 transistors were upgraded to brand new Onsemi parts, never any used or NOS components! It's this kind of thoughtful, preventative servicing that makes it smart to buy from a company with an experienced, in-house technician!

Some of the lamps were still working, but as they were most likely going to fail soon all the lamps were replaced with long-life LED's! We installed the new frosted Cool White LED's we sourced in the dial that shine through the blue dial more consistently, while Green was chosen for the meter that contrasts the dial beautifully. But, if you prefer a Warm White LED that shines through the meter with a blue color, just let us know BEFORE buying or sending an offer and we will switch it out for you free of charge! Even the Stereo indicator was upgraded so you won't have to worry about it either.

All vintage receivers receive the following services and much more, all performed by our qualified technician:

Lid is removed & unit is inspected to determine if any attempted amateur repairs exist that need to be corrected, or substandard parts that need replacement
The exterior, all knobs & plexis are cleaned & detailed
While the front panel is removed for cleaning, all attachments are re-glued and dried out foam inserts replaced.
All switches & pots are cleaned internally with Specialist Contact Cleaner (proven superior to DeoxIT by our customers), while those with special needs receive the less aggressive DeoxIT F-5
All lamps that are out, or believed to be prone to failure, are replaced if necessary. LEDs are used whenever compatible
Any faulty components, or those with known issues, such as jacks, fuse-holders, feet, etc., are replaced
All PC boards are inspected; all questionable solder joints are re-flowed
All electrolytic caps are inspected for bulging or leakage, those that are at risk or have known issues are checked with the Huntron Tracker (allows evaluation while in-circuit so component does not need to be removed). All questionable caps are replaced with brand new parts, not NOS!
DC offset is adjusted & channel levels are calibrated & balanced
Tuner is cleaned and both AM & FM aligned
Front panel is cleaned & detailed before reassembly
Cabinet is cleaned & detailed, any wood is polished with Old English

Testing:

After servicing, we set it up on our test bench and it did not disappoint, both channels drove our speakers with the powerful, warm, distortion-free signal these analog receivers are known for. All inputs, outputs and features were confirmed operational and the tuner spins smoothly. We are in a remote area, still we were able to pull in all our local FM stations with the included wire antenna, activating the signal meter and lighting the Stereo lamp. Further testing was performed, if there is a specific test you would like the results of just let us know before buying. What a great find for the vintage audiophile!

While we do many adjustments, including DC offset, we do not have the equipment to do full calibration on vintage units like this, and cannot guarantee it is, or will remain after shipment, within manufacturer specs. So we do advise that you protect your investment with a local, professional tune-up before you put this unit into prolonged use.

A note about power ratings:

Please remember, there are multiple ways to measure output wattage, "Peak," "Music," "RMS", "Continuous," "Maximum," & "Total" just to name a few. In addition, this value can change drastically depending on the impedance of the speakers being driven. Typically, our title will give the "Total watts" value, while the description will give more detailed information. We suggest you do independent research to be assured you are making informed comparisons when shopping.

Internet State Sales Tax:

In June 2018, The Supreme Court mandated that all States may charge & collect State Sales Tax on all internet purchases shipped into their state.
