For auction is a very nice piece of Arts and Crafts art pottery made by William J Walley of Sterling, Ma. This piece of art pottery is called a "Footed Tapered Shoulder Form" vase. The vase is a nice size as it stands 8 5/8" tall and is 5 1/4" in diameter at the shoulder or widest point. The foot has a diameter of 3 1/8".

This vase displays a footed tapered shoulder form with raised neck. The vase is made from a single piece of clay. It is covered in multiple blended glazes. I can see pea green as the under glaze with a blue and deeper green applied over that. The finishing touch is a green brown blend with wonderful glaze runs over all these others glazes. These runs start at the top and extend well into the vase. When looking closely you can see crystals and the vase has some sparkle under the sun. The vessel has a raised top lip to receive flowers and makes a wonderful flower vase.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, or major dings. There is the usual rough bottom edges that is synonymous with William J. Walley pieces. You can clearly see the red clay he used in the making of his pots. The vase is solid and has good weight for its size. The vase is signed with the large impressed "WJW' for William J Walley and the letter "O" underneath along the underside inner edge of the foot or bottom.

William J Walley made his pottery in West Sterling Mass from 1898-1919. I feel this piece was made 1908-1912 based on the complexity of the glazes and the form. There is matte and gloss glazes in the making of this vase.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for.

They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge a 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They used to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.

If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
