On offer here is this stunning antique terracotta and polychrome statue of 

Assumption of the Virgin Mary 

c1880. 48cm tall. 

We Bought this lovely statue on our last buying trip to France it is made of terracotta and would’ve been modelled not cast. It is then hand painted We don’t go to using Polychrome technique which uses layers of paint, lacquer and gesso. 

This statue would have almost certainly have origin stood in a chapel or church which is wise it is in such good condition and would probably have been blessed by a priest. 

The statue Depicts the Assumption Virgin Mary in to Heaven she is a stood looking up to Heaven with her arms crossed, in a blue robes with angels at her feet carrying her Heavenward. 

Condition.

it is in very good detail. There are some chips to the paint And, some discolouration but other than that it is in very good condition.
