The origin of the Pasha de Cartier began in 1931 when The Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami El Glaoui, ordered a one-of-a-kind watch from Louis Cartier. A gold piece, resilient enough to keep pace with the Pasha’s active lifestyle, and one that could boast a level of water-resistance that was uncommon for the time. The solution was a watch with a comparatively large diameter and a crown cover.

This bespoke design flew under the radar until 1985 when Cartier enlisted the help of horological royalty Gerald Genta to introduce the Pasha to the general public. It became an immediate success best known for its extraordinarily distinctive design including the broad bezel, characteristic screw-down crown cap & retaining chain.

This 1992 example is crafted in solid 18ct yellow gold with a contemporary 38.5mm case, when being worn it is truly a statement piece. The dial is a beautifully subtle cream with four Arabic Numerals, complimented with a smooth sweeping second hand, while retaining a utilitarian touch with a date function. There is a sapphire crystal glass because it was designed as a sports watch, after all! It is fastened to the wrist with a brand new Cartier crocodile strap in sleek black, and secured in place with the original solid 18ct yellow gold Cartier buckle.

These early models are becoming increasingly desirable as they can offer a timeless design at a fantastic price point. The current price for the 2023 18ct replacement is £17,900.

As for the condition, it is absolutely beautiful. The watch has undergone a full service at Cartier Bond Street in Nov/202 and remained unworn since, of course the timekeeping is excellent and all functions are working perfectly, not to mentioned it has just been fitted to a brand new Cartier strap for the buyer such that it's ready to wear. You will not find a better example anywhere.

Along with the watch itself comes the original associated box and stamped papers, a ‘collectors set’, alongside the Cartier service paperwork, an invoice for your purchase and a certificate showing the serial has a clean history against the lost/stolen registries.
