For sale is a super cool 1995-S Civil War Battlefield Commemorative Two-Coin Proof Set in its original government packaging. This set was minted and sold in 1995 to raise money to preserve the Civil War Battlefield Memorial, and it consists of the Silver Dollar & Half Dollar. The interesting thing about this set is the Half Dollar is worth almost as much as the Dollar, even though this coin is a Half Dollar and is clad. This is because even though they minted over 119,000 coins, they sold very few of them so a great majority of them are believed to have been destroyed at the Mint. That makes this one of the rarest of all modern commemorative half dollars. The obverse of the Half Dollar features a Civil War drummer soldier and the reverse features a cannon on the battlefield with the quote "ENRICHING OUR FUTURE BY PRESERVING THE PAST." The Dollar is just as amazing and features a Civil War soldier caring for a fellow injured soldier and the reverse has a quote by Joshua Chamberlain who was the governor of Maine and who volunteered to fight for the Union during the Civil War. The Dollar is 90% silver.

As you can see from the pics the coins are in amazing shape with that beautiful mirror-image finish with frosty raised reliefs you come to expect from high quality proof coins. There are no blemishes or major toning on the coins at all.
