This
is a rare and unusual vintage British Rifle Club medal from the period 1890 -
1920. It was presented by the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs.
It
is in the form of a large (4 cm) heavy bronze coin. It is embossed “The Bell
Medal” with four Victorian riflemen surrounding a statue of Britannia standing
on a plinth with a Victorian crown over three lions on a shield. The reverse is
embossed “Presented by the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs”.
This
is one of many such shooting medals won by a distinguished old chap (a Mr
Price) who was an active target shooter before and after the First World War
and was a member of Wimbledon Park Rifle Club in South West London.
It
is in truly exceptional condition for its age with no damage whatever and it
retains all of its original polish and finish - see photos.
