STEEL KARA BRACELET bangle band 

Amritsar

Steel bangle purchased in Amritsar, Punjab, India, near the Golden Temple, as a tribute to dear Sikh friends.

Simple steel, with raised etched ridges.  Needs a new owner who will wear it with love.

Appx 2.75" diam, shy of 0.25" wide

Appx 28-30 grams (weighed on an old postal scale, so not accurate)

The kara is expected to be worn by all Sikhs, as one of the five kakars or five Ks—external articles of faith—that identify a Sikh as dedicated to the religious order of Sikhism. The kara was instituted by the tenth Sikh guru Gobind Singh at the Baisakhi Amrit Sanchar in 1699.  The Kara is a symbol of unbreakable attachment and commitment to God.  Often worn by non-Sikhs to respect and represent the oneness of the Higher Power.
