A good looking pen and if that's your family tartan why not have it? It's in great shape, and functions as intended. A turn of the bottom/top section and the ball point slips out, and stays put. Easy pressure and good speed to the writing, ink is a nice dark blue. This pen does have ink in it, but I think it wasn't overly used; after all, it's still in the original box. But that's just my suspicion. At any rate, the proprietor of a good pen shop (gotta be some left!!) should have some and know what to do in terms of replacement.
