In a dramatic twist, the team from This Old House takes on the challenge of transforming an antique farmhouse and its classic red barn into their vision of a "dream house."

'Join host Steve Thomas and master carpenter Norm Abram for the "soup to nuts" renovation of this antique Colonial as they collaborate with experts like Chefs Julia Child and Marian Morash and the team from The Victory Garden.

"This house's classic structure represents many of our collective architectural notions of "home." Our task will be to turn it into the ultimate cocooner's homestead that you'll never want to leave," says Steve.

America's favorite home renovation team outfits the 1724 Colonial, which sits on 2.9 secluded acres just outside Boston, with some of the most popular luxuries and renovations on many homeowners' wish lists, while preserving the architectural integrity of the house. You will be able to identify, and perhaps even sympathize, with Norm and Steve when the tables are turned and they take on the tough budgetary and design decisions that typically face homeowners embarking on a renovation.

Kitchen

This home improvement project goes beyond renovation. This Old House collaborates with Chefs Child and Morash to create the ultimate cook's kitchen, consults with nationally-recognized decorators on interior color schemes and furnishings, and landscapes the site with help from The Victory Garden team.

Other highlights include: a dream workshop custom-designed by Norm, the restoration of a classic post-and-beam barn, and installations of an enviable home gym, a state-of-the-art media room, and a fully-stocked wine cellar.
