Leitz Leica Summicron 35mm SAWOO 11008 LTM v1 8 element + caps + IROOA hood/lid.

I have had the lovely SAMWO spectacled M3 version.. here is the rare LTM version of  8 element.. JUST 600 MADE. So this works on your M2 and IIIg. And every other Leica ever made.

I have also had the M2 M version.. again the German one. Working on M cameras and not screw cameras.. but the same visual magic if less rare in numbers terms.

AND. Produced in such a small number.. and mostly in Canada ..here is the even rarer German version. 1959.

How rare can it get!

Two far more important things to note.. 1. this one is major blemish free and optically nearly perfect. Dust and some a haze? Very minor cleaning marks. The density of the glass plays such tricks.. but it looks incredibly clear and in tact. The body more cosmetically perfect.. if feasible.

If a bright light is shone through.. given this is an octogenarian and never had a visit to the optician even.. you see general grime and haze clearly.. as further detailed below explaining my reasons so far not to have involved Kriton at Aperture who would have this brand sparkly new in an hour or two.. if that is how you like your antique lenses (not me..)

SO.. THIS lens is not only sharp and characterful it brings those qualities to any and every Leica camera ever made.

The SAWOO is a kind of main intersection of everything Leica stands for and made/makes.. soft/sharp/characterful/screw/bayonet Tiny and ingenious.. THIS IS THE LENS TO OWN.

Comes with correct free IROOA hood.. some loss of enamel to the hood edge ..and comes with the hood cap/lid (not shown..)

Lens comes with original caps and Leitz UVA filter.. clearly on since new.. as well as the IROOA hood plus lid.

PLEASE NOTE: the lens would seem to some to require a CLA due to dust.. some haze and general grime.. all consistent with age.. rather than actual physical wear or damage..  however in my extensive use of this lens.. particularly on the M9.. the results are so unique and beguiling.. I personally - though a regular visitor to Aperture Leica - would not want this CLA'd. The results I am seeing are unique. Maybe if I owned two I would do it..

I am not a fan generally of summicron lenses. The clinical sharpeness is a way from the misty world of the Summar.. Hektor 72mm and Thambar (and Summilux) I favour.. BUT THIS to use an epithet from its own era.. BLOWS YOUR MIND.

Results with CMOS sensors.. no. Somehow the magic is trampled on? Even if it still gives unique results. With CCD sensors.. YESSSSSS.. a surprisingly different world of imaging. Magical rather than simply unique.
