Leitz Leica Ig Camera Body Siemens Scientific Camera rare factory variant.

No rangefinder window. No cold shoes. Just shutter speeds - including slow speeds (even rarer than most of these..) Pretty useless but in fact priceless or thereabouts - being a very good condition extremely rare Leitz factory variant of the Ig made for Siemens to order.

You can shoot from the hip with it. A screw super angulon should work nicely. It is one of the lightest most paired down Leicas ever.

But in fact it is collectors territory - to be molly coddled and cherished.. as it seems to have been with just a few light scuffs to suggest it has been used - left in a lab alone to contemplate.. god knows what.

Forget a black Swedish rarity - this is rarer! About 70 made in two main batches plus additional ones - and there were also others fitted with a summaron f2.8 made for the German Post Office.

Nice - with body cap.

There is something so elegant about the IIIg the mother of the Ig. The best screw camera and possibly better than the M3. But this with it's recessed knob and low profile - so scientific - discreet - tiny - elusive - goes that little bit further.

Made in 1958.

Please note the shutter jams so this will require servicing/recommisioning and at present is effectively non-functioning.
