The Short Story:

Bought for parts a few months ago and have fixed and upgraded it myself as a hobby project. Have had a lot of fun getting it back to working order and would love to see some use in a new home.

Working as expected:

- lamp

- pan + tilt of mirror
- shutter dimming + strobe

- gel wheel rotation

- gobo wheel rotation

- LED control panel (couple segments are damaged) + buttons

- DMX input and control

Not working:

- rotation of individual gobos

Not tested:

- DMX pass-through

The Long Story:

Fixes/Maintenance/Upgrades:

- stock 12v fan was broken, upgraded by Noctua NF-R8 redux 1800rpm 80mm high performance fan [£10]

- stock lamp had blown, replaced with MSG Metal Halide Lamp GY9.5 [£20]

- lamp wiring has been re-soldered

- all internal stepper motors have been lubricated and now work again

- all internal parts have been thoroughly cleaned

Notes:

- still runs relatively hot (190W before jumping to 350W after warmup) when compared to LED modern-day counterparts, but runs considerably cooler than the original model due to upgraded fan

- rotation of the gobo wheel rotation works perfectly, rotation of each gobo individually does NOT (apart from one or two gobos that will rotate a quarter turn or so before stopping). The ball bearings of each gobo would need to be de-rusted, but it is doable

- case has some significant rusting and paint chipping from previous owner, I have done my best to clean it up and it does not impact the performance or safety of the unit

- although the lamp isn't a 1:1 replacement, it has the same power draw and output, essentially identical just from a Chinese manufacturer

- the LED onboard display has a couple of dead segments, still easily readable, didn't seem worth replacing

- when power is cut, I highly recommend leaving the unit for ~10 mins to let it cool down, otherwise It is most likely to fail to ignite the lamp and the light will not work. I'm not sure if this is the intended functionality but that's what I've discovered
