Beautifully made tinplate model by Ichiko of Japan.

It’s a Mercedes-Benz 220S (W111) ‘Fintail’ which was made between 1959-65 by Mercedes and likely made by Ichiko around the same time.

Approximately 1:18 scale at 28cm long, 9.5cm wide, 8.5cm high

Superb gloss black paint with bare steel bumpers, grille, light surrounds, door handles, screen surrounds and sill trim. Lovely detailed lithographed interior with soft white plastic steering wheel and intact blue-tinted front and rear screens.

The tinplate base is near-mint matt black and it rides on rubber tyres with detailed tinplate whitewalls and Mercedes wheel covers. The white tinplate numberplates show the model number and the front headlamps have yellow-green lenses.

There are soft plastic wing mirrors with bare metal reflectors.

The friction motor and siren work as they should.

The only advisories are a missing Mercedes there pointed star emblem on the top of the radiator and a small paint scrape on the lower of one rear wing.

It comes with its original lift off top box which is in very good condition with one corner loose where the card has torn around the metal staple.
