After nearly 4 years ownership, although reluctant, I do need to get rid of my collection of classics for an investment venture. This is my 1990 BMW E30 325i Sport, finished in Dolphin Grey, complimented by a Houndstooth Cloth Interior.
I have only covered just over 1k miles in the last three years. It might sound strange to some people but with 11 cars in total, that might help explain it!
I bought this vehicle in August 2020 and the previous owner had the vehicle for around 7 years before me and due to a new arrival in their family, I was able to obtain this vehicle!
The confidence with the purchase was initially down to the large amount of paperwork the vehicle had and the fact that Munich Legends had done a lot of rust repairs to the car.
The first two years were faultless in terms of driving and then the head gasket went, due to my own stupidity of not checking the coolant tank until it was too late. Thus, it then got parked up in my garage until I could get somebody to work on it and £2k later, the car was put back on the road in July 2023 and here we are today. I have spent in excess of around £4k on the car within the last year and have given the car to a reputable body shop to carry out the rust repairs it needed (stripped the roof, boot lid and front wing down to bare metal).
Service History - I have a huge folder which details the following:
- 2023, 2020, 2019, 2017( Munich legends), 2014( Munich legends), 2008, 2005 ( oil filter from BMW and receipts for thermostat etc), 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000
- MOT certificates in the folder: every year from 1996 to 2005, 2017 and 2020
- Tax discs in the folder: every year from 2000 to 2013
Extensive work carried out:
- Rust corrosion done by munch legends in 2017 - bulk heads, sills, boot hinge, boot lid
- Head gasket and cylinder head rebuild in 2023
- Roof stripped down to bare metal, alongside the front wing and bootlid where there was moisture under the paint from being under a cover in storage
Security: Clifford Alarm/ Immobiliser - installed by Kamice in 2022
Good news:
- No rust on the body in the typical places such as scuttle, sunroof, arches etc.
- Electric sunroof works well
- Custom exhaust system (not loud/droney or straight pipe etc)
- Car drives great with no issues mechanically
Like any 33 year old car, there are a few things I'd suggest doing to make the car completely perfect;
- when the head gasket went, I had the choice of doing the heater matrix or leaving it. I decided to leave it as I did so little mileage with the car and only drive it when it's clear and sunny, so the heating system does not work.
- the dash is cracked which annoyed me as it's gotten worse over time due to weather changes in recent times but there are plenty of reputable professionals out there that can repair this
Other than the small niggly bits above, it's a very honest example.
Any videos/further pictures needed then just reach out and i will do my best to accommodate. But i would think the best way to obtain this, is by coming to view the car in person!
Any questions, give me a call or email.
