A  Very rare early Pre-Civil War  Appleton Tracy & Co grade 1860 KWKS from the back.

The Waltham hand written ledgers show this watch# 28739, in a run of 20, 28731-28750 in Aug, 1860. From the Ledgers it looks like there were only 110 of this special grade with the Reversible Center pinion made? Look at the Ledger page in the last picture.

The is a 15 Jewel Movement, the ledger page says 17J, a mistake, I took it down and checked all the numbers, etc.It does have the Expanded Gold Balance wheel, the best offered at the time. It runs fine and keeps accurate time., The plate has a lot of information engraved on it Appleton Tracy & Co. Waltham, Mass, Reversible Center Pinion Patented Nov.30th 1858. It has Fast & Sow engraved on the balance cock, which is highly engraved. The plate has all Blue screws.I have a Video of it running and also the Ledger page it is listed on...

The dial is nice with Roman  Numerals and a track above them . It has Appleton Tracy & Co. across the dial. The dial is near perfect , it has a nearly invisible hairline from the center to the 12.

The case is the original Albata Metal marked inside the lid, These are nickel-Silver cases, however someone Gold plated it to improve the looks and I have left it as it is because it is the original case and the remaining plating can be removed restoring back to original condition. The case pops open when the crown button is pushed and the bow looks good the hinges are fine and it snaps shut. The bezel is OK but someone sawed into the edge at the 2 but didn't hurt it. It has a glass crystal and near new Blue hands.

Look over the 17 pictures and ask any questions before bidding. Thanks
