As you will see from the photographs there are four shelves - two of which are adjustable (3-positions) to take into account the size of the books being stored in it compared to more traditional bookcase design. The unit could easily take more shelves if required. 

We believe this is a pine bookcase which means the unit would be equally at home in a home or an office environment. Whilst generally in a good overall condition we must point out the fact that it was a some point positioned to another unit and, as such, the architrave on the top on the left hand side has been removed. However that on the right hand side could easily also be removed so that the unit will be symmetrical - or this would allow the unit to be positioned right up to a wall or other unit.
