Vtg Japanese Porcelain Rice Bowl 

This is a vintage Japanese rice bowl, Chawan. It is a gourd design drawn with a brush in black ink. Tea bowls used to be called Chawan, but gradually all bowl-shaped ceramics came to be called Chawan.  Therefore, the rice bowl came to be called a chawan.
