Hutschenreuther Square 9 1/2" Bowl Embossed Pink Yellow Floral w/Gold 1887-1910s
DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are dainty & soothing. This is hand decorated on a blank of fine white china which has flowing embossing that is highlighted with gold scrollwork. The petite flowers have white highlights to make them stand out. The scalloped rim of the bowl is not trimmed in gold. This set looks so classy and elegant.
CONDITION: While this large bowl is classified as used, the condition is superb. We find no nicks, chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the gold and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. The bottom of the bowl does have some very short, minor, age appropriate light scratches as it was used throughout the years. This decorative large bowl commands attention and is beautiful.
DIMENSIONS: The 9 1/2" square bowl is 12" corner to corner with a height of 2 1/4".
HISTORY/MARKS: The Hutschenreuther porcelain story began when Karl Magnus Hutschenreuther, 1793-1845, discovered kaolin in northeastern Bavaria in 1814 where he established his company. His son Lorenz managed the Hohenberg porcelain factory from 1845-1857. He founded his own Hutschenreuther Porcelain Company in Selb in 1856 which became highly successful and 113 years later absorbed his father’s company. All of the Hutschenreuther Companies were trend setters of high quality porcelain. Hutschenreuther became known for the love of detail, distinctive brilliance of color, and lustrous beauty shown through the decorating of the fine porcelain pieces. The mark on this set is that of the Hutschenreuther Company of Selb, Bavaria Germany. The Hutschenreuther (C.M. Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria) green mark #49 was used 1887-1920's as cited by the website marks4ceramics.
