This guitar is very special in many ways. It was built in early 2000’s supposedly during the time when Brian Moore luthiers were in Korea assisting in the production development. It plays exceptionally well and features all American hardware and components such as Sperzel tuners and Seymour Duncan JB/Alnico 2 set pickups. This guitar is also special because it has a flamed top while most guitars found are quilted and has a real maple top the same thickness as my USA MC1’s. It was believed to be a Factory demo guitar that was sent to press for magazine reviews. A picture of this guitar and finish pattern was found on Vintage Guitar Magazine article. A story has been told that these guitars were first seen by Paul Reed Smith while visiting NAMM booth and he was so impressed the following year he contracted with the same Korean factory to start building the first PRS SE line. Unlike a PRS SE this guitar had an original retail price of $2200 and was targeted to be 1/2 the price of the USA version.
This guitar is amazing to play and smokes my USA Gibson Les Paul Modern. It feels very similar to a Japan built ESP E2 Eclipse I use to have but smoother and better ergonomics. The tone is very thick and soulful and aggressive with clear articulation thanks to the JB Humbucker. This guitar is my #2 guitar next to my MC1 and I hate selling it but only listing because I need to make room for a custom shop Warrior Isabella guitar in the process of being built and I even had them clone the neck specs from this guitar.
