TAKOM 2187 1/35 Vk 100.01(P) K3382 Plastic Model Kit
The Vk100.01(P) K3382 is one of the earliest designs for the 100-ton super-heavy Maus tank.
- On June 4, 1942, a preliminary design for the Vk100.01(P) based on drawing number K3381 was presented, but in response to Hitler's suggestion that a short-barreled gun was necessary to increase defense against enemy infantry, a preliminary design for drawing number K3382 was submitted two weeks later on June 17, which showed a turret with a 75mm KwK L/24 gun installed in place of the commander's cupola on the main turret.
However, the addition of this turret would have increased the vehicle's height by nearly 4m and its weight from 120 tons to 140 tons, which was thought to significantly reduce maneuverability on rough terrain, so this plan was scrapped.
