In addition to the condition of the car. We recently (May 2024) spent £2000.00 to replace the clutch and fly wheel at Kent Automotive one of the most well known independent VW specialists within the UK. Unfortunately after spending the money to replace the clutch and flywheel we were informed that the Mechatronic unit would need replacing as the new clutch tolerances could not be set. After hearing this news we have both decided to put the car up for sale as we have already put enough money into it over out 6 years of ownership and with my partner driving only 3000-3500 miles a year we wanted to look at alternatives. We were told that a used or refurbed mechatronic unit would be between £400-700 plus labor to fit (3 hours).
We have set the price on the basis that we only want what we have recently put into the car. This would be an ideal project or a very good purchase for someone who can work on VW DSG gear boxes. The car does run and drive in all gears however it is very jumpy and twitchy as the tolerances are set based of the old clutch pack.
