Vintage Harmon Kardon 330C Stereo Receiver

For sale- a Vintage Harmon Kardon 330C Stereo Receiver as pictured.  I had been using this as an audio source with a DVD player for years, and then the room it was in got remodeled and it was temporarily taken out of service.  There is good news and there is bad news these days.  The good news is it sounds fantastic, which is a bit surprising since it had a noisy volume control as best I remember.  Nothing a shot of contact cleaner probably wouldn’t cure, but if I fiddled with the volume setting, usually I could get it to quiet down.  Now it seems quiet almost all the time.

The bad news is that the tuner section does NOT work.  It may have been like that for years and I wouldn’t have noticed.  Which is why I am selling it as used- it’s usable as is unless you want to listen to the radio.  FM in particular seems totally dead, the tuning meter does not react at all even with a dipole antenna attached and there are several local stations it should easily pick up.  It doesn’t even produce the hiss you associate with the bandwidth between channels.  AM makes a little noise but could not find a station.  So again, if you need a working tuner you should pass on this one.  If you don’t need a tuner this might be a good way to pick one up cheap and see if you like it.

But let’s put this sale into perspective.  You are buying a piece of electronics that starting to push 50 years old.  Capacitors only live so long, so it may be better suited to a buyer that intends to rebuild it.  Very nice cosmetic condition, especially the front panel.  At least one bulb is out as you can see on the tuner dial, and the power button does not light up.  If you are buying it to use as is you are rolling the dice that you will get some satisfaction out of it before something goes poof.  Given the high cost of shipping I will NOT accept a return.  Includes nothing other than the receiver itself.  The AC cord is permanently attached, no other cables included, no wiring or antenna.

All items are sold as is with no warranty offered unless one is specifically stated.  Any testing done will be explicitly stated in the listing and any accessory items will also be mentioned or pictured.  If it isn’t pictured or mentioned you can assume it is not part of the sale.

Please add a $38.99 flat rate for shipping anywhere in the continental US (which does NOT include Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam or APO/FPO addresses).  I will ship via the carrier and level of service of my choice unless we specifically decide on a favored carrier option.  I will, at my option, ship worldwide via USPS for the actual cost as determined by USPS.com.
