c 1921 Melba China (made by Mayer & Sherratt) hand painted fluted floral tea trio in pattern #1996, produced at the Clifton works in Longton, Staffordshire.

This tactile, molded set bears exquisitely detailed, hand painted floral swags in rich Imari tones of rust, green and cobalt blue on a lustrous, bright white background with gold highlights.

Dimensions:
Cup stands 6.5 cm tall and 10 cm from outer edge of cup to outer edge of the handle.
Saucer 14.3 cm diameter.
Side plate 16.7 cm diameter

In perfect, original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify.
The colours remain clear and bright and the gilding is in great condition.

There are a few fine glaze and kiln spots, particularly inside the cup, very typical of china manufactured at this time and the manual processes involved.

The undersides of all 3 pieces bear the Melba China England & crown back stamp.
The side plate bears a painter's mark.
The cup has a hand written pattern number.

I have listed 7 sets of trios, 2 serving plates and spare saucers and side plates in this pattern separately.
