This 1930's fabric was created by mill workers some 80 years ago...early 30's...from a fabric called a glazed cotton...we've also come to know it as chintz and everglaze...it was a coating that was highly sought after for its luxe richness and delicateness despite its absolute sturdiness...over the decades housewives washed it as washing machines evolved...and a whole other beauty of glazed cotton emerged...that was the after effect of the removal of that glaze in the wash...the most softest...most luxe...most shabby chic of textures and hand emerged...something people today search to the ends of the earth for...the vintage cotton enthusiasts...in search of a serotonin release...a sort of high in textile form...orgasmic...need I say more!
