1954 LECTOCHEM ■ Electrochemistry Set ■ Chemical Experiments Using Electrons

This nearly impossible-to-find 60-year-old children’s science kit—described as HARMLESS ODORLESS NO FLAMES—has apparently NEVER BEEN USED. Three of the vials still contain 60-year-old liquid! The 16" x 10" x 2” box is in quite good condition, particularly inside. The top cover is rippled a bit and shows evidence (dirt and wear) of age and storage. The two left-hand corners are split (see photo). In spite of that, and taking its rarity into consideration, I would judge the kit to be a unique item of museum quality.

The 8-1/2 x 11” accompanying manual has detailed instructions for ■ Electrolysis of Water ■ Dissolving Iron in Water ■ Making a Home-Made Battery ■ Electrochemical Prevention of Rust ■ Why Galvanized Iron Does Not Rust ■ Electroplating.
