Intriguing rare late 19th/early 20th century Japanese woodblock painting. Depicts 2 Japanese women and a child, all dressed in traditional Japanese kimonos. This is a very interesting piece and may be pen and ink that has been hand painted as opposed to a wood block stamp. The piece is on a very thin fabric type paper, much different then rice paper or traditional woodblock paper, almost like a vellum or skin. There is lots of writing and signatures so I’m sure the artist can be identified. Verso retains old tag that reads “Winifred Anderson”. This is either the original owner or the artist, perhaps Sourh African artist Kathleen Winifred Anderson (1878-1968). Quite worthy of further research. Estate fresh.

In Very Good antique condition. Bold and crisp.

Remains colorful. Minimal wear to the paper/cloth. Quite suitable for framing.

Measures 10 1/2” x 7 1/2”.
