Antique French Art Nouveau Porcelain & Gilt Jewellery Box By Paul Louchet 1900s

This magnificent Art Nouveau jewellery box is made by French painter & sculptor Paul Lochet of Paris, well known for his Art Nouveau jewellery design and crafts. This extraordinary piece is decorated to the ivory coloured cover with a Parian relief plaque depicting love birds amongst leaves, foliage and berries. The base is ground in blue and green with moulded gilt borders to the top and the sides decorated with flowers and berries.

Paul Louchet (1854-1936) was a French sculptor, bronzier and painter. This complete artist realized an exceptional and trim work of chiselling. He collaborated with the greatest contemporary artists of his time: Lalique, Daum, Majorelle, Chalon. He realized items in the Art Nouveau style for the Universal Exhibition in 1900. He was president of the chamber of the bronze producers and then focused on painting and sculpture.
