Entitled "The Ca d'Oro" this 1922 drypoint etching is by the celebrated American printmaker Donald Shaw MacLaughlan (1876-1938) most famous for his European city senes.Though more densely inscribed, this view of the iconic Venetian Gothic palace, seen from the old fish market across the Grand Canal, reflects the artist's acquaintance with James McNeill Whistler and admiration of his work, with the vignetting of the neighboring building and casual inclusion of foreground watercraft and figures. Measuring 12" x 12" image, 13" x 13" sheet it is signed in pencil lower right and in the plate, titled lower left, from a likely edition of 50 .  It is in excellent condition with no holes, tears, stains or toning, loose ad unframed. This is one of the artist's most highly regarded prints .   An example of this print is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Natioal Gallery Of Art,  Art Institute of Chicago, Cleveland Museum of Art,  Dallas Museum of Art
