               OLIVER PAQUE  

   was the pseudonym of W.H.Pike, who was a regular contributor to the Daily Graphic and The Sketch in the heyday of black and white illustration. He also exhibited at the R.B.A, the R.I. the R.A. and others.

This example is of a theatre illustration for an unttled play. It depicts Mr. Arthur Stirling as Cardinal Wolsey.  It is in ink but there is no signature although there is what appears to be a monogram in the top right corner which resembles the one sometimes used. The style of drawing and annotation is that of W.H.Pike. The drawing is on light card  in good condition except for a slight marks in the margin. It measures c. 4" x 9.5" without the mount.
