GEORGE W. COLLINS          1920s/40s

These pleasing drawings and watercolours are by George W.Collins of 46 Lincoln's Inn Fields and date from the 1920s-1940s.

Most are initialled or signed and most locations are listed.

Not much is known about this artist except that he exhibited at the RA in 1914 from Lincoln's Inn Fields.      Our view is that he was a Barrister who was a part time artist, not needing to exhibit.    This opinion is based both on his known address and the fact that a number of the locations are of substantial properties where he probably lived away from the office, for example at "Blakeney, Orpington".    Many views are in Kent or E.Sussex, not far from Orpington, which adds weight to our opinion.

This small watercolour is of a pleasant landscape by a lake.      It is signed bottom right and measures circa 6" x 8"
