Vintage Altec 416-8A Woofer

For sale- a vintage Altec 416-8A Woofer, said to have been working fine when pulled from an A5 Voice of the Theater.  I got this from a friend of mine that services commercial theaters, he used to keep a stock of spare Altec drivers but most of the theaters now use much smaller speakers so he has no reason to hold onto the stuff any more.

The driver is in very good condition EXCEPT for one small spot on the surround (pictured) where the goo they use in excessive quantities to attach the surround to the cone must have gotten stuck to something and pulled a bit off when the two were separated.  Please enlarge the pictures and take a good look.  I doubt it would make a difference in the sound quality, but I leave it up to you to determine if it is a defect you are willing to live with.  Serial number 7656 if that tells you anything.

I don’t notice any rubbing of the voice coil.  I will hook it up to a source and play it prior to shipment, if I should notice anything then I reserve the right to simply call the sale a wash.  If it sounds OK to me then it will arrive functional, but no warranty is offered.  I make nothing on the deal so I have no reason to ship it if it isn’t right.  Please check out my other listings for more A/V gear, including some other vintage Altec from his collection.  Check back often!
