Traffic was an English rock music band whose members came from the West Midlands. The group formed in April 1967 by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldim Chris Wood, and Dave Mason. They began as a psychedelic rock group influenced by The Beatles when releasing early pop single, and diversified their sound through the use of instruments such as keyboards, like the Mellotron, reed instruments,  and by incorporating jazz and improvisational techniques in their music. Their first three singles were "Paper Sun", "Hole in My Shoe", and "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush".

H.P. Lovecraft was an American psychedelic rock group in the 1960s, named for the famous horror writer. Originally formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1967, they relocated to San Francisco, California the following year.

Mother Earth was an American blue rock music band from California, fronted by Tracy Nelson. Nelson, who hailed from Madison, Wisconsin, began her career as a solo artist, but formed the Mother Earth ensemble after moving to San Francisco. The group performed at the Fillmore West in the late 1960s alongside Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Burdon, and was included on the soundtrack to the 1968 film Revolution. The group signed to Mercury Records, recording several albums. Mike Bloomfield played guitar on their 1968 release Living with the Animals.

Blue Cheer was an American psychedelic blues-rock music band that initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and were sporadically active from that point on until 2009. Based in San Francisco, Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic blues-rock style, and are also credited as being pioneers of heavy metal (their cover of "Summertime Blues" is sometimes cited as the first in the genre)
