Introducing the innovative new design Herm Sprenger Ultra Plus prong collar featuring the centre plate configuration pioneered by the outstanding neck tech prong collars.  This striking symetrical design offers benefits that are both functional and aethetic with the confidence that it has been developed by the leading manufacturer of quality dog training products.  The Ultra Plus is available with a swivel D ring for flexibility of movement when attached to the lead. Additional benefits include:

  • Synchronous configuration of the middle links
  • Consistant impact
  • Optimised communication with the dog

The collar is a petite 2.25mm gauge stainless steel measuring 41cm/16 inches suitable for dogs up to 12kg.

Why would a small/medium sized or toy dog really need a prong collar?  Well, they may not be able to pull you over like an 80kg bordeaux on a charge, and they may seem easy to hold back on a leash, but the prong collar isn't just there to protect the owner from a strained arm.  Even smaller and toy dogs can suffer damage to their necks by pulling against a collar.  It's easy for an owner to tug a leash too hard and hurt a little neck, ideally the focus should be on preventing your toy dog pulling in the first place which removes the need to tug a smaller dog back.  A misconception is having a prong collar for the benefit of the owner alone, the prong collar is actually used to prevent your dog causing undue injury to itself too.  The larger gauge prong collars with links removed can still be effective, but are bulky and heavy on a little neck, fortunately Herm Sprenger can provide a matching collar for every dog size.

Stainless steel is a wonderful material and gives everything you would expect in terms of corrosion resistance and high tensile strength. While not as shiny as the mirror polished chrome collars, the stainless steel prong collars will retain their finish almost indefinitely if properly cared for. Their resistance to water damage makes them perfect for dogs who love to get wet, and dogs who work in a range of environments such as guard dogs. This classic range of stainless steel prong collars requires the links to be separated for fitting.  The prong collars are made in Germany by Herm Sprenger to the highest quality standards, we therefore offer a 12 month guarantee against breakage and corrosion on all LuvMyDog supplied prong collars when using the collar correctly. Offering both exceptional quality and value, buy with confidence in preference to other brands.

Herm Sprenger prong collars feature machine rounded links for ultimate comfort and ensure there are no rough or sharp edges to damage your dogs fur and skin.

The prong collar is an extremely effective alternative to a choke chain for controlling your dog when going for a walk, and is ideal for owners who's dogs pull on the lead.  The prong collar is gentle method of restraining your dogs tendency to choke itself while putting unnecessary pressure on the neck.  When used correctly the collar offers fantastic and instantly noticeable results.  We highly recommend using the collar sensibly as not to hurt your dog, and if you're uncertain at any point, please stop and consult a qualified trainer.  The prong collar is best suited for use with a short lead where keeping the dog close to you allows better control.  The assumption that this collar ‘pinches’ when on the dog and pressure is applied, is a falsehood. It neither pinches or pokes the neck in a way that would cause injury.

When putting the prong collar on your dog there is no particular place you or your dog needs to stand or sit.  Since you will be simply separating links to put it on, there is no right or wrong way for it to lay on the neck. The only consideration would be if the collar is too loose or too tight. Refrain from slipping this kind of collar over your dog’s head to keep from injuring the eyes. Don’t allow your dog to wear the prong collar with the prongs facing outward (inside out).  The collar should be removed when the dog is off the leash and has space to run or play, the prong collar is not a replacement for your dog's usual collar and can be used in conjunction with almost any collar your dog wears daily.  Please buy an ID tag for your dog :)

Please ensure you measure your dog's neck properly before adjusting and putting on the prong collar.  The collar can be adjusted very easily by adding or removing links.  The most suitable size for the chain is the width of the dogs neck plus 5cm / 2 inches.

The prong collar is recommended by German state-licensed and accredited instructors, and also by the federation of organized instructors, because it works. If the prong collar doesn’t work for you or you are uncertain of the safest way to walk your dog using a prong collar, please contact a dog trainer or expert, and ask for help.  The prong collar should not be used to 'drag' your dog, a light guiding touch to let your dog know which way is not acceptable is all that you will need with practice as the dogs behaviour improves.  Herm Sprenger Prong or Pinch collars are renowned worldwide as the professionals choice.

There are a large number of dogs that love the water.  Other dog groups are regularly in contact with water such as hunting dogs, working dogs and police/security dogs.  Chains made of normal steel will become dull after contact with water, and salt water will roughen the plating layer which results in rusting.  This cannot happen with quality stainless steel.  Additionally you have the advantage of a higher breaking load which will give you better security and a longer chain lifespan.  The exceptional durability and longevity of stainless steel is therefore reflected in the price, however you have the piece of mind to know that with care the collar will likely never need replacing.  Remember to thoroughly dry your prong collar after use and store it away safely.

International customers welcome.

We are unfortunately unable at present to post prong collars to Australia due to a badly written import restriction.  We are working on the issue and hope to be able to resume deliveries to Australia in the future.
