Dahlia - Cactus Hybrids Mixed. Curvaceous, spiky blooms, huge cut flower source, many fully double and mostly true to type. Superb too in the flower border for late summer/autumn blooms. Flowers late summer/autumn. Height 3-4ft.
When to Sow: February to April.
Where to Sow: Sow in trays of moist seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C (68-77°F).
What to do Next: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm (2") apart. As seedlings grow, transplant into 9cm (3 1/2") pots and gradually harden off before planting out in the flowering site from late May onwards. Space plants 45-60cm (18-24") apart.
Flowers: July onwards.
