Solid European Air Dried Oak Beam Mantle Piece

Beautiful solid oak mantel pieces made using top quality cuts of partially air dried oak and ideal for fireplace surrounds. Supplied either a rough sawn finish, or a "planed all round" finish (which is fairly smooth). They are created mainly for interior use - often used as mantle pieces and fireplace surrounds. They can also be used for external purposes, if required.

Oak is a natural product - each piece will be different. If you require a perfectly square beam, please contact us before buying so that we can check if we have one in stock, and the price could be different. Please be aware that these are cut from dried material, so you will have weathered faces as well as bright faces and they will contain surface cracks, splits and knots - all of which are beautiful characteristics of oak. There may be one or two waney edges on some of the beams, which add to the overall character.

Please note that since oak is a natural product and our mantels are only partially dried in an open yard, it is recommended that they are not used as floating shelves due to the very high risk of movement. We highly suggest that these mantels must be fixed into place either into brickwork, using corbels or a suitable alternative system.

Rough Sawn

All our beams are imported from France and are dried for around 3-5 years, and usually have a dark silver/grey appearance.

Planed All Round

If a planing service is requested, the beams will be put through a planer. The beams return to the golden yellow colour of oak. Each face will lose around 1.5mm once planed. You may wish to sand these yourself (as sanding is not offered by us) to make them completely smooth.

*** Please note that if you select a planed mantle piece, you will lose approximately 6mm from the overall sizes. For example, a 225x125mm beam would be finished at around 219x119mm ***

Delivery will be made via Parcelforce or TNT courier services and will take up to 3 to 5 working days to arrive.

You can also place the order for collection from out depot in Corby. Orders for collection are generally ready within 3 working days.
