USE THIS SIMPLE KIT TO MAKE 3D CASTINGS OF YOUR BABY'S HANDS AND FEET - safely
Why choose this kit ? Because it contains Skinsafe Alginart - designed originally for dental mouldings it has been reformulated to create the leading moulding alginate for baby hands and feet.  It changes colour to help you know the stage of mixing you are at....priceless when working with babies who won't sit still!  Craftmill have  worked with this product extensively over the last 8 years.

4 stages to the process:- Step 1, mix the ALGINART - a jelly-like natural, soft alginate and put baby's hand or foot in.  After the mould has set, wiggle the hand/foot out.  Step 2, mix the casting plaster and pour into the mould.  Step 3, cut away the alginate to reveal the gorgeous casting.  Step 4, after drying, keep the casting natural or paint in one of our lovely metallic shades.

• 1.  450g bag of ALGINART - which is skin safe colour change chromatic alginate. It is sealed new and fresh. Slow setting compared to other brands of alginate, giving you more mixing time and less panic!
• 2.  500g of Casting Plaster (you need less plaster than alginate as it only fills the hole in the middle of the mould)
• 3.  An Essential General Help Sheet.  
• 4.  A Dedicated Full Colour Leaflet to produce the best casting.  
• 5.  Top artist quality metallic paint (unless you choose the plain option).  Choose in the menu at the top of the screen. 
  
• 6.  A paintbrush to finish the job. 
• 7.  A pair of non-latex gloves for mixing
• Here are some finished examples of what you can achieve.  These castings have been painted (left to right) with Iridescent Silver, Bright Gold, Pearly White or Antique Gold (thanks to our customer Jo Inglis-Lyons for sharing that lovely image with us!).

All you need to complete the task is some small clear poly-food/sandwhich bags to pour in the alginate for baby's hand to be put in OR our preference -  an empty plastic party cup or margarine tub - suitably sized for the hand or foot you are casting (because when you pour in the plaster, you want the moulding to stand firmly upright - bags don't!).  The smaller the hand the smaller the bag / container should be to conserve material and get the most moulds from your kit.  All explained in our tip sheet.
