Launched to compete with BMW’s F650, the Suzuki XF650 Freewind cost significantly less. Sharing its single-cylinder engine with the DR650, it’s a top all-rounder, especially useful as a commuter; punchy round town but comfortable for longer distances. The XF650 motor was also used by CCM in their 644cc model R30, replacing the unreliable Rotax 604cc lump first seen in 2001 and early 2002 models.
2001: 604cc Rotax powered CCM R30 released. 2002: Suzuki XF650–engined CCM R30 replaces the CCM R30. CCM R30T: Cheaper, track-biased version. CCM R30S: Special edition with carbon fibre fittings. CCM R30 710: Factory big-bore kit version; superior power and torque.
