This is a reproduction of an early 1900's mail slot.  It is made of solid lacquered brass and is lightly lacquered.  It has a heavy spring door.  7 x 2 3/8 inches.  The inside measures 4 1/2 x 1 inches.  This is not a US Postal Service approved size.
