Like all of our products, our Silk Scarves are produced entirely in-house with our custom manufacturer.  They print our fabrics, press them to set the inks, and do all the cutting and sewing by hand.  Each scarf is handled individually and with care.

Take a look at the process!

They are light and airy and our special print process allows the print to be seen thru both sides of the scarf.  We finish our scarves with a machine rolled baby hem.  The finishing is durable and smooth.

Silk Fabric Printing

How is the silk fabric printed?   Our silk fabric is printed using pigment inks.  They are eco friendly, safe for children, and washable (but will fade minimally the first wash).  What is unique about our silk printing is that our manufacturer has adjusted the ink to print right thru the fabric so you see the print on both sides.  You will almost not be able to tell the difference from the right and wrong side of the print.

What types of inks are used?
Our silk fabrics are printed with eco-friendly nano pigment inks that are safe for children.  The inks are mixed with a binder which when heat set, makes the fabric washable.

What are the limitations or allowable variations of printing on silk?  Silk is always unique.  Due to the nature of silk, there may be imperfections in the silk that may be included in your print order including slubs in the silk, colour variations in the bolt, and printing off grain.   Your printed silk may show some bleeding into nearby colours.  This is more noticeable on our silk habotai than on ours silk chiffon.

What weight are your silk fabrics?  Our silk fabrics are very lightweight.  Our silk habotai is 8mm and our silk chiffon is 10mm.

How do I care fro my printed silk?  Our silk habotai and silk chiffon can be machine washed.  However, please expect a change in texture after machine washing.  To soften our silk habotai, machine wash cold on the delicate cycle with no detergent.  Tumble dry on low.  Please expect a 3-5% fade which may be uneven and more noticeable on dark and solid patches.  To wash regularly, add a mild detergent or shampoo and machine wash cold on the delicate cycle.  Tumble dry on low or hang to dry.  Machine washing chiffon will result in it becoming more crinkled or crepe textured.
You may also dryclean your printed silk fabrics.

Will my printed silk fade?
Our silk fabrics experience minimal fading when washed.  Usually around 3-5%. The fade may be uneven over the surface and will be more noticeable on dark and solid patches.

Will my printed silk shrink?  We heat set printed silk fabrics at 350 degrees.  This means any shrinking that will occur usually occurs during the heat setting.

Can I iron printed silk?  Yes.  Our printed silk may be ironed on low or on the silk setting, with or without a pressing cloth.
