Pro Shrimp's comment: Bio CO2 is not as effective as a pressurised injection CO2 system, but it's only a fraction of the initial investment. Sufficent enough for a basic CO2 supply especially for smaller aquariums. These systems use yeast bacteria to produce CO2, which then is transferred into the water column. Bio CO2 systems do not need a power supply. We offer three different types of Bio CO2 systems from the most basic Starter Pack up to a complex system for up to 120L which includes thermal control containers and bubble counters.
This is the most basic starter set. If you need a bubble counter to observe the amount of CO2 released into the water and additional accessories we would advise to go with the Bio-60 or Bio-120 Starter Kits.
Complete set for beginners, comprising:
Uniform CO2 production with CO2 control gel.
DENNERLE Bio-CO2 exploits the well-known fact that yeast cells are able to produce CO2 from sugar in the absence of oxygen.
A problematic aspect is the fact that a fermentation process with pure sugar normally begins at a very fast pace, only to drop away substantially after just a few days. As a result, the aquarium receives too much CO2 at the beginning, and too little shortly after.
In contrast, DENNERLE Bio CO2 with CO2 control gel produces a virtually constant level of CO2 continuously for over 30 days, that is, for more than a month! Each CO2 bottle produces well over 300,000 CO2 bubbles. This assures your aquarium of an ideal supply of CO2 every day.
